Week 03:
Respond
It’s time to turn conversations into genuine connections.
Overview
If you’re listening well to someone’s story, you’ll need to respond. Your ability to respond to someone’s story can either leave a person hanging or create genuine connection.
How do you respond well? It all starts with empathy.
Empathy is the ability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes—to identify how someone is feeling and responding appropriately. It’s not always about solutions. Many of us are struggling with complex problems, and what we need most is to be seen and heard.
Empathy paves the way for courageous vulnerability. It’s when we drop the facade and open up about how we really feel. It’s learning to accept ourselves and others as we are and understanding that we are accepted right here, right now.
This week, we’re going to respond.
